Rakhamim Emanuilov (Russia)
Dr. Rakhamim Emanuilov is the Founder and current President of the Civilizations Interaction Foundation and Head of the Civilizations Interaction Group at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He also serves as Political Advisor for Middle Eastern and Central Asian Affairs to the Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia. From 1985 to 1991, Dr. Emanuilov served as the Chief of the Economic Department at the Soviet Trade Mission in Kabul, Afghanistan. Since 1991, he has consulted as a political and business advisor for private institutions with ventures in the Middle East and Central Asia. Since 1995, he has been the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Interprom Bank. Dr. Emanuilov is the author of many political science articles, including “Afghanistan Deadlock,” “No Emotions in the Fight Against Terrorism,” “Dialogue as a Panacea Against Extremism,” “Opium Routes,” and the book Terrorism and Extremism Under the Flag of Faith (Moscow, 2010).
