Iran–U.S. Relations: Imagining
a New Paradigm

Concluding Remarks

In his concluding remarks, Limbert commended the panelists for their sophisticated treatment of this complex issue. Mistrust and miscommunication will persist, and will not be easy to overcome. But the moment at which both sides will have to begin trusting each other is near.

Limbert also suggested that some Iranians see Obama’s popularity in Iran as dangerous. The new American administration may be perceived not as an enemy, but as a rival. This may delay rapprochement, but everyone must work to put U.S.–Iranian relations on a better footing.

Mustapha Tlili encouraged everyone to continue enriching their knowledge and understanding of Iran. He again thanked the panelists and audience for their attendance and participation.
